About Us

Max Lucado wrote the book 'you'll get through this' and has inspired me throughout my cancer journey. He states in his book "You'll get through this. It won't be painless. It won't be quick. But God will use this mess for good. In the meantime, don't be foolish or naive. But don't despair either. With God's help, you will get through this." His statement cannot be more true. It led me to begin thinking 'What does God want me to do with my brokenness?'

Living metastatic (or with Stage 4) is not an easy feat. Some days I can hardly get out of bed the fatigue is so overwhelming. Every 3 weeks I have to take 2 or 3 days out of my life to travel to my treatment center which is 5 hours away and requires an overnight stay (expense). In my case, I have extensive bone tumors. So pain is now something I live with constantly. Some days are better than others. I have learned what my limits are for the moment.

The statistics on metastatic and early-stage breast cancer are eye-opening and underscore the profound challenges faced by those with the disease. Here’s an overview of the latest findings on this complex illness.

Approximately 1 in 8 U.S. women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, typically at an early stage (Stages 0–3). However, around 30% of those initially diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer will eventually develop metastatic breast cancer (Stage 4), even if initially treated successfully. Furthermore, about 6% of breast cancer cases are “de novo,” meaning they are metastatic from the time of diagnosis, requiring immediate and often lifelong treatment plans for survival

While early detection has significantly increased survival rates, metastatic breast cancer remains incurable. It requires continuous management, with many patients enduring challenging treatment regimens and the emotional toll of living with a life-limiting illness.

The Moxie Breast Cancer Foundation is dedicated to supporting individuals managing metastatic breast cancer day by day. Unlike research-focused organizations, we provide essential care packages and resources to help ease the burden of this ongoing battle. With your support, we can expand our reach, helping more people with metastatic disease feel cared for and understood. Your donation can truly make a difference in their lives and provide them with the encouragement they need to keep going. Thank you for considering a contribution to Moxie BCF.

Together, we can be a beacon of hope.
